2005 Big Announcement (Disappointment)
by Fred Franztone ini remember around 2005, there was an announcement made from the platform that in a few weeks time we would have to remain at the end of the sunday meeting for a big announcement, directly from the society.. i remember all the murmuring, people thought maybe this was going to be related to armageddon.
everyone was excited, people were speculating.
only the po in each congregation had any idea what was going on, and they were frequently pestered for information, but sworn to secrecy, which only hyped things up even more.. then the meeting came, anticipation was in the air, the announcement started, you could hear a pin drop.

A Former Jehovah's Witness shares her me too story
by LisaRose inhttps://ww2.kqed.org/news/2017/12/16/a-former-jehovahs-witness-shares-her-metoo-story/.
when i was 23 years old, i started dating a (jehovah’s) witness boy and we’d go out to some dance clubs.
there was a night in particular where i had too much to drink.

That's exactly what I was saying! How can you not see that? You've misinterpreted me, I was saying that not all drunk sex is rape, not that no drunk sex is rape. Surely you understand.
Again, I wasn't responding to the initial post, and you know that, please don't twist my words. I was responding ONLY to the statement that drunk people can't consent. No distinction was made between passed out drunk people and tipsy people and that's what I was pointing out. It's as if it were being said that couples in a relationship can't even have drunk sex, or that all drunken one night stands are rape.
If a distinction had been made then I wouldn't have commented because I agree that there is a difference, that was entirely my point. I was the one pointing out the distinction, not denying it. I was saying that JWundubbed couldn't see the distinction or at least wasn't being clear about it. If it's wrong to make no distinction in one direction, then it's wrong to make no distinction in the other direction also, I'm sure we agree on this.
And please don't accuse me of being a potential rapist, which is what you were essentially doing at the end of your post.

Jwundubbed simply said drunk, with no clarification. And don't strawman what I was saying, that's obviously not the agenda I meant, I mean the one that suggests for example that people need to start using silly apps to confirm their consent and stuff like that, because all 'drunk' sex is obviously rape unless proven otherwise.

Then the meeting came, anticipation was in the air, the announcement started, you could hear a pin drop. The PO began reading a letter, and after about 20 seconds of babble he held up a green book and said the WTS is pleased to announce the release of its new book for publishers.
The disappointment was so strong that you could almost feel half of the congregation turn apostate on the spot (not for long unfortunately).
I remember that being the day when I began to realise that this really was just a publishing company, releasing books for 'publishers' to read, and books for them to peddle.
I never looked back. Does anyone else remember this?

'Drunk people can't consent' is a sweeping statement and a half. Don't use this to push your own puritanical agenda. Saying that all drunk sex is rape is a ridiculous assertion. I'd wager that for most couples, drunken sex will have accounted for many of their happiest times together. -

The speed with which I exited!!
by joe134cd ini was just thinking at how quickly the process was from pimi - pimo - pomo.
i must of spent about 10 years trudging along in the organization very unhappily.
but from the initial stages of learning ttatt to physically walking out the door the process took about 18 months.

Things You Still Agree With The JWs On
by Fred Franztone inaside from obvious things that most people agree on, like theft being wrong and the importance of family, i can't think of a single thing i agree with the jws on, nothing that's specific to their religion anyway.

In principle yes, I'm talking about principle because in practice no one lives by their principles.

I wouldn't join the military but if others want to then I have no problem with it.
